Georgia-Pacific LLC is seeking a Process Safety Engineer for the Wauna Paper Mill in Clatskanie, Oregon. You will support the Chemical Process Safety Manager with risk-based strategies, technical expertise, and leadership in process safety, product stewardship, and compliance.

The role combines fieldwork at the mill with office duties and requires on-call rotation one week per month. The candidate will develop and drive risk assessments, lead RCFA for incidents, and mentor hourly employees to

Qualifications

• Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or military environments.
• Background in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or safety-focused roles (e.g., process safety, process engineering, mechanical integrity, or reliability within PSM-regulated operations).
• Experience with Process Safety regulations, specifically 29 CFR 1910.119 and 40 CFR 68.
• Root-cause analysis experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop risk assessment strategies and participate in PHAs, Project Design Reviews, and Pre-Start-up Safety Reviews to embed process safety.
• Lead RCFA for process safety incidents and near misses to drive sustainable corrective actions.
• Assist leadership in developing and implementing process safety objectives, targets, and measures.
• Analyze process safety incidents to ensure sustainable corrective actions and improve performance.
• Review metrics to monitor process safety compliance and evaluate training systems for effectiveness.
