Job summary

San Bernardino County is seeking a Sheriff's Training Specialist II to develop, update, and oversee instructional and training programs for law enforcement and support personnel.

The role analyzes training needs, designs course outlines and materials, and coordinates seminars with external vendors and internal stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have proven experience creating structured curricula and delivering instruction to diverse groups.

Qualifications

• Option A: 1 year of full-time experience as a San Bernardino County Sheriff's Training Specialist I or equivalent in a CA law enforcement agency.
• Option B: 2 years of full-time experience delivering a formal staff training program in a law enforcement agency.
• Education: 30 semester units of coursework in education, behavioral science, or business/public administration; a bachelor's degree in a qualifying field may substitute.
• Substitution: an additional year of experience or a POST Academy Instructor Certificate may substitute for the education requirement.
• The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in developing formal curriculum and coordinating subject matter presenters.

Responsibilities

• Develop, update, and oversee instructional and training programs for law enforcement and staff.
• Analyze training needs and design course outlines, lesson plans, and handouts.
• Coordinate seminars and instructors with outside vendors and other department personnel.
• Present employee development presentations to Executive Staff and various employee groups.
