Job summary

The Tulare County Sheriff's Department in Visalia is seeking a qualified manager to lead administrative services and supervise diverse staff. This position supports operations across communications, records and automation units and participates in budget planning.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field and three years of analytical, supervisory experience in public administration or a similar setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration, management, personnel, criminal justice administration, information technology or closely related field.
• Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in a professional personnel, administrative or technical staff position performing analytical work.
• Experience supervising professional, administrative or technical staff is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of: county government operations and budget processes; research methodology and report writing; modern office methods and automated support applications.

Responsibilities

• Manage and direct administrative services functions within the Sheriff's Department.
• Assign, supervise, direct, and review the work of technical and clerical personnel engaged in a variety of administrative and operation support activities.
• Develop, supervise and participate in analytical studies of organizational, technical, and administrative problems; recommend and may approve improvements and changes in departmental methods and procedures.
• Participates in the budget review for the communications, records and automation units by reviewing, analyzing, and preparing budget requests for conformity with the overall departmental program.
• May coordinate division administrative and technical support services with other individuals in the Department who are responsible for operation and institutional services and programs, and with other departmental management and administrative personnel.
