Job summary

Endeavors is seeking a Shelter Monitor to provide supportive services, logistical support, and direct supervision for residents in the Emergency Shelter Program during assigned shifts. You will help ensure safety, cleanliness, and efficient shelter operations while enforcing program rules and policies.

Key responsibilities include crisis intervention, de-escalation, documenting logs, and coordinating with staff and volunteers.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience: 2+ years’ experience with low-income/at-risk/homeless individuals or vulnerable populations preferred.
• Licenses: Driver’s License with a clear record.
• Vehicle: Daily use of a vehicle.
• Other: Able to travel to various locations and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, trauma-informed environment for clients while upholding professional boundaries.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with clients, management, volunteers, and staff.
• Monitor shelter areas for compliance with rules, policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
• Respond to client requests, complaints, inquiries, and crisis situations in a professional manner.
• Use positive behavioral management techniques, including de-escalation and redirection.
• Assist residents toward problem-solving and progress toward stable housing.
• Document accurately: logs, incident reports, and program records.
• Conduct client intake and orientation procedures.
• Assist with shelter setup, organization, supplies, and inventory.
• Provide guidance to volunteers and staff to ensure efficient shelter operations.
• Deliver exceptional customer service with a focus on children, families, Veterans, and clients.
