Job summary

Endeavors is seeking a Shelter Monitor to oversee a safe, structured shelter environment and assist residents in meeting program rules. This in-person role requires strong boundaries, documentation, and de-escalation skills, with a focus on customer service and outcome-driven support.

You will document incidents, coordinate with staff, and ensure compliance with facility policies while maintaining compassionate, professional interactions with residents and volunteers.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years' experience with low-income/at-risk/homeless individuals or vulnerable populations.
• Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance.
• Driver's license with a clear record.
• Daily use of a vehicle.
• In-person work location.
• Must be available to travel to various locations as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe, structured environment with professional boundaries.
• Maintain positive relationships with clients and staff.
• Keep comprehensive written records and incident reports.
• Document serious incidents accurately and timely.
• Consult with supervisor on duty regarding residents' needs.
• Use positive behavioral management and de-escalation.
• Assist residents with processing issues and problem-solving.
• Monitor shelter areas to ensure policy compliance.
• Hyper-sanitize all shelter areas.
• Respond to residents' requests, complaints, and inquiries.
• Address violations to ensure understanding of expectations.
• Conduct orientation, intake, assign beds/lockers, provide linens/personal supplies.
• Brief and direct volunteers and staff.
• Conduct regular inspections for improvements.
• Identify and respond to residents in crisis to ensure safety.
• Teach good personal hygiene.
• Maintain boundaries.
• Gain working knowledge of policies.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Demonstrate exceptional customer service, placing clients first.
