Job summary

LAWS Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Services in Leesburg, VA, is seeking a Shelter Supervisor to lead Shelter Specialists and uphold trauma-informed, survivor-centered practices within our 24/7 shelter. The role reports to the Shelter Manager and focuses on staff supervision, operational oversight, and coordination of scheduling and safety.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in a related field and 3+ years in human services, crisis intervention, or shelter

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of experience in human services, crisis intervention, or hotline services.
• 1+ year of leadership, supervision, training, or team coordination experience.
• Experience working in a shelter environment.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and emergency shelter coverage.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise Shelter Specialists and PRN Shelter Specialists with day-to-day direction and performance feedback.
• Provide operational oversight of the shelter during shifts, ensuring staffing, safety, and resident needs.
• Ensure shift notes and logs are complete and communicated across shifts.
• Maintain a safe, survivor-centered, trauma-informed shelter environment; address concerns and intervene as needed.
• Coordinate with Shelter Manager on staffing gaps and schedule changes; support 24/7 shelter operations.

Education

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in psychology, sociology, social work, human development, public health or related field
