Job summary

Lantern Community Services Inc. in Queens, NY, is seeking a Shift Supervisor for a single male adult shelter in Far Rockaway.

You will oversee shift operations, supervise Residential Aides, and coordinate with Social Services, Maintenance, and Security to ensure safe service delivery. The role requires shelter experience, supervisory ability, and strong communication skills; healthcare and safety certifications are preferred and encouraged.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years of shelter experience.
• At least one (1) year of supervisory experience in a DHS shelter or supportive housing setting.
• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily shelter operations during assigned shifts, including bed sign-ins and curfew checks.
• Supervise and support Residential Aides to ensure safe, consistent service delivery.
• Ensure clients have timely access to meals, laundry, toiletries, and medications.
• Lead staff in Safe Crisis Management and respond to emergencies and critical incidents.
• Coordinate with Maintenance, Security, vendors and emergency responders as needed.
