Job summary

Volunteers of America Los Angeles is seeking a Monitor I - HSH to help ensure safety and security at the shelter and surrounding program premises. You will monitor entrance, perform bag and person screening, and patrol the facility to safeguard participants, staff, and visitors.

As a non-profit agency, VOALA relies on dedicated on-site staff to uphold safety standards, complete incident logs, and support clients through daily activities, including transport for licensed monitors when needed.

Qualifications

• Must pass fingerprint clearance and background check.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• 6 months experience with homeless or vulnerable populations.
• California driver's license and clean driving record preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor shelter entrance and authorize entry/exit to guard against theft.
• Screen bags and persons entering the shelter.
• Patrol premises to prevent unauthorized access and ensure safety.
• Observe and report safety concerns; manage shelter safety and emergencies.
• Complete written reports and incident logs of daily activities.
• Provide client/participant support and transport as needed for licensed monitors.
