Job summary

Volunteers of America Los Angeles is seeking a Monitor I - Shelter & Housing to help secure the program premises and protect clients, staff and visitors on-site. The role involves entrance monitoring, bag screening, patrols and safety oversight with documentation responsibilities.

Licensed Monitors may transport participants as needed. VOALA offers competitive benefits and opportunities to serve vulnerable populations in Los Angeles. This is a full-time, on-site position.

Qualifications

• Must pass fingerprint clearance and background check.
• 6 months experience working with homeless and/or vulnerable populations.
• Current California driver's license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor shelter entrance and authorize entry/exit.
• Screen bags and persons entering shelter.
• Patrol premises to prevent intrusion and ensure security.
• Maintain shelter safety and report safety concerns.
• Complete written reports and incident logs daily.
• Drive participants as directed (licensed Monitors) and assist mobility needs.
• Other duties as required to support the Program mission.
• Act as a role model for participants at all times.
