Job summary

African American Planning Commission Inc is seeking Security Officers to provide 24-hour coverage in a city shelter facility. You will protect residents and staff, enforce rules, and respond to emergencies while coordinating with police and emergency services.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and 2+ years in security, plus an active Security Guard license and a Certified Fire Safety Guard credential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent with 2+ years in shelter security.
• Two years of Security Guard experience.
• Active Security Guard License.
• Certified Fire Safety Guard (F02).
• Ability to exercise good judgement and problem solving.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience working with homeless populations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safety and security of residents through posts, rounds, and rules enforcement.
• Respond to emergencies, including medical and behavioral incidents, with appropriate interventions.
• Liaise with police and emergency services as needed.
• Document compliance activities and report incidents to supervisors.
• Assist visitors, verify supervision of children, and manage curfew reports.
• Participate in training and staff development.
