Job summary

The Salvation Army in Richmond, VA is seeking a Shelter Support Worker to help operate emergency and inclement weather shelters. You will monitor clients, enforce house rules, assist with intake, and perform light housekeeping to keep common areas safe and welcoming.

Responsibilities include documenting client information, maintaining safety logs, and coordinating with staff for sleeping and dining area setup. Schedule includes weekends and evenings; pay is $16 to $19 per hour.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• One year experience in security or social service work preferred.
• Any equivalent combination of training and experience.

Responsibilities

• Monitor shelter clients for safety, comfort and rule compliance.
• Prepare sleeping/dining areas and manage client check-in procedures.
• Conduct shelter census and ensure all clients are accounted for.
• Maintain logs of incidents and emergencies.
