Job summary

Salvation Army Richmond shelter seeks a Full Time Regular security and support assistant to ensure the safety, comfort and wellbeing of clients. Duties include monitoring activities, maintaining logs, and supporting weather shelter operations with an orderly intake process.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED and experience in security or social services. Evening/night shifts are typical; CPR/First Aid preferred where available.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent experience.
• Experience in security or social service work preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.

Responsibilities

• Monitor shelter clients for safety, comfort, and rule compliance.
• Prepare sleeping/dining areas and assist with client intake during shelter operations.
• Enforce curfew, lights out, and quiet hours; respond calmly to emergencies.
