Job summary

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington is seeking a Shelter Monitor to support clients in shelter facilities within the Housing and Homeless Services department. You will monitor daily shelter activities, enforce program rules, and conduct intake and bed assignments.

Responsibilities include hourly rounds, incident logging, and crisis intervention using a trauma‑informed, housing‑first approach. Strong customer service and computer skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Six months experience in the human service or customer service field preferred.
• Knowledge of CPI de-escalation is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Perform the computer/web-based bed check-in and intake process for all clients during overnight and evening shifts and provide appropriate referrals.
• Perform hourly facility rounds and log entries in accordance with protocol.
• Provide urgent reports to the supervisor or manager of any concerns or emergencies.
• Maintain on-site communication with staff, supervisors, janitorial and security personnel to ensure safety.
• Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation when needed, including CPR/first aid and incident reporting.
