Job summary

Community Housing Innovations, Inc. (CHI) seeks a full-time Recreation Child Care Supervisor at our Smithtown location.

You will oversee recreational, educational, and day care needs for the family shelter, developing curricula and coordinating activities for children and families. Responsibilities include supervising staff, meeting with the team to set goals, coordinating transportation and events, and partnering with schools and community resources.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Education/Human Relations preferred.
• Experience in education, specifically with children, required.
• Knowledge of community resources required.
• One to two years’ experience in homelessness, housing, human services, or a related field preferred.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Valid automobile insurance.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in English required. Bi-lingual (Spanish) is a plus.
• Basic competency in MS Windows, MS Office, and internet usage.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Recreation/Education Specialists and/or Child Care Workers.
• Conduct 1 to 1 meetings with team and update performance goals and notes.
• Assess, plan, implement, and coordinate educational needs of children and adults.
• Assist children and families with school and summer camp enrollment.
• Develop programs to enhance academic performance such as tutoring and homework assistance.
• Plan, organize, implement, and coordinate facility activities and recreational programs after school, on weekends, and during school breaks.
