Job summary

The Salvation Army Tacoma Corps is seeking a Part Time, non-exempt Program Aide to support the Jarvie Memorial Family Lodge shelter. You will assist with daily safety, meal service, inventory, cleaning, and documentation, while upholding program policies.

Responsibilities include resident intake under supervision, crisis support, and coordination with the JMFL Program Manager. Ability to pass a TSA background check and hold a WA Food Worker Card is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience working with vulnerable populations preferred.
• Detail-oriented with strong multitasking abilities.
• Ability to learn quickly and apply new information and skills.
• Understand and support The Salvation Army mission and values.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident information.
• Must be able to pass TSA background check.
• Must hold WA State Food Worker Card.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance to residents and promote a safe, communal living environment.
• Conduct resident intake and orientation when delegated.
• Provide supportive care during personal crises.
• Assist in meal preparation and service under Kitchen Manager guidance.
• Respond to emergencies and coordinate with authorities as needed.
• Perform periodic property walkthroughs to identify hazards and needed repairs.
• Document incidents, safety concerns and non-compliance in required reports.
• Monitor inventory of program, cleaning, hygiene, and food supplies.
• Complete room turnovers, laundry, and prepare rooms for occupancy.
• Maintain distribution of linens and supplies; keep facility clean and orderly.
• Attend staff meetings and work collaboratively with team members.
• Protect resident confidentiality in all interactions.
