Agate Housing and Services is seeking an Assistant Shelter Program Manager to support day-to-day leadership and operations across its housing-focused shelters. You will supervise staff, coordinate coverage, and provide direct guest service while upholding Housing First and harm reduction principles.

This exempt, full-time role requires rotating 4-day weeks with 1pm-11pm shifts, evenings or weekends as needed, and participation in a 24/7 shelter rotation with a team of six.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years' experience in homeless services or related field.
• At least 1 year of supervisory experience, including hiring and performance management.
• Strong understanding of Housing First, Harm Reduction, and trauma-informed care.
• Experience supporting guests with mental health concerns or substance use and applying de-escalation.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends or on-call responsibilities.

• Quality Assurance and Safety: uphold shelter safety and welcoming environment.
• Support guests experiencing crises and model de-escalation.
• Assist in managing emergencies and maintaining safety for guests and staff.
• Uphold Harm Reduction, Housing First, and trauma-informed care practices.
• Supervision and Staff Development: recruiting, onboarding, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating staff.
• Provide shift expectations, coaching, and timely training follow-ups.
• Partner with Shelter Leadership Team to anticipate coverage and provide on-call leadership.
• Ensure cross-site communication and timely reporting of operational needs.
