Job summary

Agate Housing in Minneapolis is seeking a Shelter Worker to join a team overseeing daily operations at two shelter sites. You will handle intakes, monitor guest safety, and ensure a calm environment, with weekend and evening shift premiums.

The role requires compassionate, trauma-informed interaction and reliable documentation in HMIS. Responsibilities cover policy enforcement, rounds and guest safety, de-escalation, and coordination with staff across programs.

Qualifications

• Respectful engagement with guests and staff from diverse backgrounds.
• Strong organization skills and attention to detail for paperwork.
• Ability to work efficiently, accurately, and use computers confidently.
• Lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds routinely.
• Experience with Microsoft Office products.
• Meet government screening criteria and possess a smartphone.

Responsibilities

• Enforce shelter policy consistently with a respectful demeanor.
• Answer calls, monitor entrances, and oversee guest access to shelter.
• Conduct rounds to ensure guest safety and de-escalate conflicts.
• Monitor security camera footage and document incidents accurately.
• Collaborate with program staff, facilities, and management for operations.
• Support daily routines including meal service, housekeeping, and data entry.
