Job summary

Samaritan Daytop Village is seeking a Shift Supervisor to support daily operations at a Jamaica, Queens shelter. The role involves supervising staff, coordinating daily activities, and ensuring safety, confidentiality, and privacy rules are followed.

The candidate should be prepared to obtain required FDNY and food safety certifications within 90 days of hire. The position offers full-time hours with an hourly rate of $28.09, a comprehensive benefits package, and a schedule of Tuesday-Saturday

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Ability and willingness to obtain FDNY F-80 Certificate of Fitness within 90 days of hire.
• Willingness to obtain CPR and NYC Food Handler’s certifications as needed.
• Flexible and available to work varied shifts, including evenings and weekends.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
• Reliable, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the shelter environment to ensure rules are followed, space is safe and clean, and positive interactions are maintained.
• Lead safety checks, conduct fire drills and evacuations, and monitor kitchen/food prep if needed.
• Manage daily schedule of activities to ensure client services and events occur as planned.
• Oversee client appointments, dispatch vehicles, distribute carfare, and assign escorts as needed.
• Administer breathalyzer tests or observe urine collection as required by policy.
