Job summary

Bayview Hunters Point Foundation for Community Imp looks for a House Manager to run Jelani Family Residential Program, ensuring a safe, supportive living environment for shelter residents. You will oversee daily operations, manage staff, and coordinate with case managers to support residents’ plans.

Responsibilities include documenting interactions, crisis intervention, community resource access, and maintaining confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Associates or Bachelors Degree in Social Work or related fields.
• AOD Certificate.
• Experience working with families and children a plus.
• Minimum of one year in a behavioral healthcare environment.
• Must have working knowledge of Housing First Philosophy.
• Familiarity with trauma informed care and behavioral health helpful.
• Understanding of Child welfare & Family Supportive Concepts
• Must be a self-starter with excellent follow-through skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Teams, Word, Excel, and Outlook).
• Familiar with Calworks, SSI, CPS and permanent houses and community resources.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification

Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the shelter.
• Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of the facility.
• Monitor security systems and ensure the safety of residents and staff.
• Manage inventory and supplies, ensuring that essential items are always available.
• Overseeing & monitoring all floors for safety, order and in compliance with the program rules.
• Check the interior and exterior to maintain security and program compliance.
• Practice cultural competency and de-escalation in a professional and safe manner.
• Assist with fostering a comfortable homelike environment.
• Ensure daily shifts have coverage.
• Maintain and oversee program documents, and support the Program Director when necessary.
• Document all interactions with residents.
• Provide crisis intervention and conflict resolution as needed.
• Coordinate with case managers and other staff to support residents' individualized plans.
• Facilitate access to community resources and services.
• Supervise and support shelter staff and volunteers.
• Schedule staff shifts and ensure adequate coverage.
• Conduct regular staff meetings and training sessions.
• Provide performance feedback and support professional development.
• Policy and Procedure Compliance: ensure adherence to shelter policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Assist with development and implementation of new policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
• Follow ethics policy regarding “professional relationships with residents”.
• Notify the Director of rule violations and any other immediate concerns.
• Maintain the safety of the house by ensuring all security protocols are followed.
• Handle administrative tasks such as report writing, budgeting, and correspondence.
• Maintain resident records and confidentiality.
• Collaborate with the Director on strategic planning and program development.
• Encourage residents to engage in healthy lifestyle changes and maintain substance abstinence.
• Answer phones, take messages, attend to information requests.
• Complete and submit maintenance requests to the Director of the program.
• Respond to all residents’ requests and questions professionally.
• Attend and participate in all staff meetings & training as required.
• Maintain shift reports in Google documents.
• Perform duties per BVHP policy and procedure and Standards of Care.
• Orient residents to program rules and responsibilities of each stage.
• Maintain a clean and healthy environment for residents including bed stripping and cleaning.
• Honor and abide by DPH & BVHP rules of confidentiality.
• Attend meetings or training outside regular hours when needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director.
