Job summary

Providence Foundation of San Francisco is seeking a Lead Shelter Monitor to oversee daily shelter operations and coordinate staff on a rotating shift. You will guide frontline staff, manage guest check-ins, and ensure safety and service quality in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include leading shifts, coordinating posts, monitoring compliance with protocols, and supporting training. The role requires strong judgment, organizational skills, and a customer-focused approach to shelter

Qualifications

• Demonstrated leadership and decision‑making experience in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational leadership and direction to shelter staff during assigned shifts, including in the absence of a Shelter Supervisor.
• Coordinate staff assignments and ensure coverage for designated areas (Front Desk, Roamer, Front Entrance, Community Room).
• Monitor staff punctuality, uniforms, and adherence to shelter standards; ensure tasks are completed efficiently.
• Support staff training and reinforce established operational procedures.
• Oversee daily shelter operations, guest check-ins, and visitor protocols.
• Manage food service operations and ensure hygiene and safety standards are met.
• Maintain a clean, safe shelter environment with regular area checks.
• Implement and monitor shelter security procedures and respond to incidents per policy.
• Serve as a primary contact for guests and maintain accurate records.
