Job summary

Abode is seeking a Kitchen Coordinator for the Kirk Emergency Shelter/Veterans program in San Jose, CA. The role oversees kitchen operations, meal service, inventory, and staff/volunteers, with required reporting and training duties.

Veterans are encouraged to apply, and a flexible schedule includes evenings and weekends. Responsibilities include menu development, inventory control, and collaboration with a shelter team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
• SafeServ certification and SafeServ trainer certification is required.
• 1 year experience in customer services.
• Use of personal vehicle will be required with valid CA driver's license and insurance, plus clean DMV record.

Responsibilities

• Control food inventory, including shopping and/or picking up donations.
• Shop for large quantities of food supplies within budget guidelines.
• Develop the weekly meal menu for shelter guests.
• Be on site and accessible to meal service volunteers during meal prep and service.
• Develop and implement clean kitchen and equipment program.
• Provide reports and assist with intake/exit procedures for participants.
