Job summary

The Salvation Army in Modesto, CA seeks a Kitchen Assistant Coordinator to supervise cleanliness, safety, and operation of the kitchen and equipment. Responsibilities include scheduling kitchen staff, ordering food and supplies, and coordinating with shelter staff to address repairs, meals, and kitchen needs.

You will help create monthly menus, report statistics for contracts or grants, and work with Kitchen staff and Supervisor to ensure smooth daily service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic cooking and serving nutritious meals to shelter clients.
• At least two years' experience leading and supervising a commercial kitchen.

Responsibilities

• Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings.
• Review kitchen equipment daily and report issues.
• Prepare the emergency canteen for county food services.
• Coordinate with departments to collect donations.
• Supervise, train, and assist kitchen staff.
• Establish maintenance programs with Corps Officers.
• Report safety and security deficiencies to Kitchen Manager.
