Job summary

HomeFirst is seeking a Cook for the Boccardo Reception Center in Santa Clara County. The role involves cooking meals per recipes and production guidelines while upholding food safety and sanitation, handling equipment like ovens, fryers, and slicers, and serving guests at a 250-person capacity shelter.

You will lead interns and volunteers, follow menus, monitor inventory, and ensure safe, timely meal service across a 24/7 operation managed by the Kitchen & Food Services Manager.

Qualifications

• Professional cooking and knife handling skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Food and beverage knowledge.
• Must be available mornings, some evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Establish menus with guidance from the Food Services Supervisor.
• Prepare meals according to menus and food availability.
• Supervise interns, volunteers and community groups in meal prep and serving.
• Operate ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers and other kitchen equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitary operation of kitchen and storage areas.
• Ensure food is prepared, served and stored safely per agency policies.
• Manage food inventory and rotate stock (FIFO).
• Attend food service meetings and participate in improvements.
