Job summary

Housing Matters in Santa Cruz seeks a Direct Services Coordinator to actively support shelter programs and maintain a safe, clean environment at Live Oak Landing. The role requires CPR/First Aid and a valid California driver’s license, with bilingual English/Spanish preferred and EMT as a plus.

The position is part-time, hourly, non-exempt with a union-friendly PTO plan, offering evening shifts on weekends and holidays as needed. Training and community collaboration are key parts of the role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED completion.
• Bilingual English and Spanish preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, secure, and clean environment for shelter guests.
• Answer questions, problem-solve, and provide support to guests.
• Distribute meals and supply items during designated times.
• Apply housing first and harm reduction strategies in daily duties.
• Maintain professional boundaries and use de‑escalation techniques as needed.
• Communicate with staff, complete incident reports, and document shifts.
