Job summary

The Archdiocese-affiliated St. Vincent De Paul Mission of Bristol, Inc. is seeking a Food Service Specialist (Shelter Cook) to plan and prepare meals for shelter residents and maintain the kitchen environment.

You will work five days a week, create menus, and coordinate with providers for donations while ensuring health and safety standards. Experience cooking in residential or commercial settings is required, and you must obtain a ServSafe Manager Food Handler certificate within 30 days of

Qualifications

• Previous experience cooking in either a residential or commercial setting.
• Must obtain ServSafe Manager Food Handlers Certificate within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare lunch and dinner five days a week for shelter residents.
• Plan menus considering health and cultural needs; submit weekly menus.
• Prepare menus for days off and provide clear instructions.
• Call providers and collect donated food; utilize donations when possible.
• Maintain a clean shelter kitchen and pantry; ensure readiness for inspections.
• Organize perishable stock and label/freezer items; rotate or dispose when needed.
• Assist training of staff or volunteers; follow Archdiocesan policies.
• Perform additional duties as requested.
