Job summary

Community Outreach, Inc. is seeking a Social Services Assistant to support residents in a transitional housing shelter, supervise operations and coordinate with community partners. You will handle daily client needs, document progress, and ensure safety and compliance with agency rules.

The position offers day, swing or night shifts, full or part-time hours, and opportunities to collaborate with case managers and therapists while maintaining client confidentiality and dignified care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Commitment to COI’s mission and client advocacy.
• Detail oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Must pass a state background check.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and perform physical tasks.
• Ability to work day, swing, or night shifts.

Responsibilities

• Respond to requests for food boxes, housing screenings, mail and other services.
• Supervise shelter facilities and inventory, keep areas stocked and organized, open/close shelter.
• Interact with clients respectfully, maintaining dignity and self-esteem.
• Ensure residents complete daily routines and comply with agency rules.
• Operate control centers, answer inquiries, route messages, and perform admin duties.
• Conduct client urinalysis and breathalyzer testing as required.
• Perform housekeeping: cleaning, dusting, vacuuming and laundry.
• Provide crisis intervention and contact emergency services as needed.
• Document client information and progress notes; share with case managers.
• Maintain safe, secure facility and promptly report safety issues.
• Attend shelter events and meetings; perform other duties as required.
