Job summary

The MIL Corporation is seeking a skilled Sheet Metal Technician II to support engineering, prototyping, fabrication, and maintenance at NAWCAD Webster Outlying Field in St. Inigoes, Maryland.

The role involves fabricating, modifying, installing, repairing, and maintaining sheet-metal assemblies and related components for DoD and Naval Aviation programs. The position requires planning and executing sheet-metal work from blueprints, drawings, and specifications, using journeyman-level fabrication

Qualifications

• Three or more years of hands-on sheet-metal fabrication and installation at journeyman level.
• Ability to read blueprints, drawings, sketches, and specifications.
• Experience operating shop equipment such as press brakes, shears, and drills.
• Willingness to lift up to 50 pounds and perform in varied environments.

Responsibilities

• Plan, layout, fabricate, modify, install, and repair sheet-metal components per drawings and technical specs.
• Fabricate and repair machine guards, grease pans, shelves, lockers, tanks, ducts, brackets, channels, and more.
• Operate and maintain sheet-metal fabrication equipment including press brakes, shears, rollers, punches, saws, drills, and laser/waterjet systems.
• Perform cutting, bending, forming, shaping, fitting, fastening, and assembly using hand and power tools and measuring devices.
• Support fabrication of prototype, developmental, and production hardware for government customers.
• Interpret drawings, work orders, and instructions to determine fabrication requirements.
• Conduct dimensional inspections and verify conformance to drawings and tolerances.
• Assist with first article inspections, in-process inspections, and quality documentation.
• Install, modify, and maintain facility and shop equipment requiring sheet-metal expertise.
• Coordinate with engineers, machinists, inspectors, and program personnel to meet requirements.
• Troubleshoot fabrication and fit-up issues and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain a safe work environment and comply with safety requirements.
• Mentor junior fabrication personnel when assigned.
• Support surge efforts and special projects.
