The U.S. Army is seeking a military technician for the Army Reserve Aviation Command in Los Alamitos, California. This role involves fabricating and repairing aircraft components, requiring active membership in the U.S. Army Reserve. A $10,000 recruitment bonus is available for qualified candidates.
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: This is a military technician position with the Army Reserve Aviation Command, Aviation Support Facility (ASF) Los Alamitos West located at Los Alamitos, California.

Experience includes paid and unpaid work, volunteer work through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps), and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). All qualifying experience, including volunteer work, will be credited.
There is no specific training or experience length required. However, applicants must demonstrate, through their written application materials, sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the work without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Sheet Metal Mechanic (Aircraft) without more than normal supervision. Applicants should document experience or demonstrate the ability to assist with plans and layouts, determine repair needs, operate shop equipment, and cut, bend, and form metal parts. Failure to meet this element will result in an ineligible rating.
Physical Effort: Performs repairs from ladders, scaffolds, and in hard-to-reach places, requiring climbing, standing, stooping, bending, stretching, and working in tiring positions. Frequently lifts items up to 20 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
Working Conditions: Works in well-lit but noisy shops and outdoors, exposed to heat, cold, inclement weather, odors, smoke, and fumes. Wears protective gear and faces risks of cuts, falls, burns, and injuries from tools.
