Qualifications

Job Description:

The Aircraft Mechanic assigned to a foreign field site reports to the Off-Site Supervisor and is responsible for performing maintenance duties, often exercising independent judgment and supervising a team of mechanics. Work is performed with minimal supervision, consulting the supervisor mainly for initial assignments or deviations from standard practices.

Essential Duties and Functions:
  • Maintain Beech King Air B300 aircraft supporting aircrew missions.
  • Launch, recover, and inspect aircraft for airworthiness.
  • Adjust, align, calibrate aircraft components, and perform system checks.
  • Advise management on aircraft deficiencies.
  • Maintain aircraft support equipment inventory.
  • Perform inspections, refurbishment, and phase maintenance.
  • Prepare and maintain maintenance records and documents.
  • Review deficiency reports for trends.
  • Use OEM manuals for maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Conduct inspections to ensure quality of work.
  • Research, order, and receive aircraft parts.
  • Prepare parts for supply system and initiate material reports.
  • Maintain tools and support equipment in safe, serviceable condition.
  • Follow safety, bioenvironmental, security, and housekeeping standards.
  • Operate support vehicles and perform aircraft servicing, corrosion control, and movement duties.
  • Coordinate with aircrews on discrepancies and troubleshooting.
  • Complete all maintenance documentation accurately.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED; technical training, military experience, or equivalent preferred.
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate required.
  • At least three years of hands-on experience as an A&P mechanic on small to medium fixed-wing and light/medium helicopters.
  • Experience within the last 12 months in a similar role.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Experience with maintenance support for various aircraft types (e.g., Cessna 206/208, Beechcraft King Air, Bell 407/412).
  • Tools required for maintenance tasks.
  • Knowledge of hand and power tools, and equipment like shears and sheet metal brakes.
  • Ability to interpret safety rules, manuals, and procedures.
  • Experience with rotor and propeller balancing equipment.
  • Decision-making skills, knowledge of FAA regulations, and proper record-keeping.
  • Ability to retain information and work independently.
  • Must obtain and maintain a DOJ Security Clearance and a valid driver’s license.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:

Work involves standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in hangars and outdoors under various weather conditions. PPE and safety protocols are mandatory to mitigate hazards such as moving parts, chemicals, and electrical risks.
