Job summary

Magnum Venus Products, Inc. is seeking a Controller to manage the cost and operational accounting system and own the integrity of the general ledger. You will partner with the Chief of Staff & Head of Finance to ensure accurate financial reporting, tax compliance, and a strong audit relationship.

The role requires interaction across all levels of the organization and leadership of the accounting team, with a focus on producing timely financial statements and robust internal controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA or CMA preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and manufacturing accounting principles.
• 5+ years experience in manufacturing and operational accounting.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
• Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process across all divisions.
• Assist in preparing and managing management of annual budgets and monthly forecasts.
• Maintain and enforce the chart of accounts, reconciliation cadence, and journal entry approval controls within Epicor.
• Monitor, analyze and control production costs, inventory valuation, and production variances weekly.
• Collaborate with operations to optimize resource allocation, reduce costs, and improve processes.
• Reconcile balance sheet positions monthly, prepare, review and post journal entries daily as required.
• Establish, maintain and enforce robust internal controls to ensure financial integrity.
• Process operational CapEx requests, track spending and capitalization of assets as required.
• Finance lead for annual physical inventory and monthly cycle counts; coordinate with operations.
• Performs annual cost roll and inventory revaluation; work with purchasing and operations management to improve cost accuracy.
• Liaison for annual review and tax preparation for US and Canada.
• Maintain the corporate compliance calendar and ensure no lapses in entity good standing.
• Manage, train, and develop accounting staff.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will manage and maintain the cost/operational accounting system, incorporating understanding of manufacturing operations and generally accepted accounting practices. The Controller owns MVP's accounting operations, financial reporting, tax compliance, and external audit relationship, and serves as the primary technical accounting partner to the Chief of Staff & Head of Finance. This role is responsible for the integrity of the general ledger. This position will take direction with general supervision from the Chief of Staff & Head of Finance and requires interaction with all levels of the organization.

Job Responsibilities

• Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process across all divisions, ensuring GL accuracy and timely delivery of financial statements.
• Assist in preparing and managing management of annual budgets and monthly forecasts
• Maintain and enforce the chart of accounts, account reconciliation cadence, and journal entry approval controls within Epicor.
• Monitor, analyze and control production costs, inventory valuation, and production variances weekly to perform necessary adjustments and improve profitability prior to month-end
• Collaborate with operations to optimize resource allocation, reduce costs, and improve processes
• Reconcile balance sheet positions monthly, prepare, review and post journal entries daily as required
• Establish, maintain and enforce robust internal controls to ensure financial integrity
• Process operational CapEx requests, track spending and capitalization of assets as required
• Finance lead for annual physical inventory and monthly cycle counts; work with the operational resources responsible for these processes to ensure timely and accurate counts
• Performs annual cost roll and inventory revaluation. Works with purchasing and operations management to enhance accuracy of cost components
• Liaison for annual review and tax preparation for US and Canada
• Maintain the corporate compliance calendar (registered agent, business licenses, franchise filings) and ensure no lapses in entity good standing.
• Manage, train, and develop accounting staff.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor s degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA or CMA preferred
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and manufacturing accounting principles
• 5+ years experience in manufacturing and operational accounting
• Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills
• Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems
