Job summary

Magnum Venus Products, Inc. seeks a cost/operational Controller to own the general ledger, close processes, and financial reporting. You will guide tax compliance, audit relationships, and act as the primary technical accounting partner to the Head of Finance.

Interaction across all levels of the organization is required. The role requires 5+ years in manufacturing accounting, strong GAAP knowledge, and leadership with ERP proficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; CPA or CMA preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and manufacturing accounting principles.
  • 5+ years experience in manufacturing and operational accounting.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems.

Responsibilities

  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process across all divisions, ensuring GL accuracy and timely delivery of financial statements.
  • Assist in preparing and managing budgets and monthly forecasts.
  • Maintain and enforce chart of accounts, reconciliation cadence, and journal entry controls within Epicor.
  • Monitor production costs, inventory valuation, and variances to improve profitability at month-end.
  • Collaborate with operations to optimize resource allocation and reduce costs.
  • Reconcile balance sheet positions monthly; post journal entries daily as required.
  • Establish and enforce internal controls to ensure financial integrity.
  • Process CapEx requests and track asset capitalization.
  • Lead annual physical inventory and monthly cycle counts with operations support.
  • Perform annual cost roll and inventory revaluation; coordinate with purchasing and ops management.
  • Liaise for annual review and tax preparation for US and Canada.
  • Maintain corporate compliance calendar and ensure good standing.

Job Summary

In this role, you will manage and maintain the cost/operational accounting system, incorporating understanding of manufacturing operations and generally accepted accounting practices. The Controller owns MVP's accounting operations, financial reporting, tax compliance, and external audit relationship, and serves as the primary technical accounting partner to the Chief of Staff & Head of Finance. This role is responsible for the integrity of the general ledger. This position will take direction with general supervision from the Chief of Staff & Head of Finance and requires interaction with all levels of the organization.

Job Responsibilities
  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process across all divisions, ensuring GL accuracy and timely delivery of financial statements.
  • Assist in preparing and managing management of annual budgets and monthly forecasts
  • Maintain and enforce the chart of accounts, account reconciliation cadence, and journal entry approval controls within Epicor.
  • Monitor, analyze and control production costs, inventory valuation, and production variances weekly to perform necessary adjustments and improve profitability prior to month-end
  • Collaborate with operations to optimize resource allocation, reduce costs, and improve processes
  • Reconcile balance sheet positions monthly, prepare, review and post journal entries daily as required
  • Establish, maintain and enforce robust internal controls to ensure financial integrity
  • Process operational CapEx requests, track spending and capitalization of assets as required
  • Finance lead for annual physical inventory and monthly cycle counts; work with the operational resources responsible for these processes to ensure timely and accurate counts
  • Performs annual cost roll and inventory revaluation. Works with purchasing and operations management to enhance accuracy of cost components
  • Liaison for annual review and tax preparation for US and Canada
  • Maintain the corporate compliance calendar (registered agent, business licenses, franchise filings) and ensure no lapses in entity good standing.
  • Manage, train, and develop accounting staff.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor s degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA or CMA preferred
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and manufacturing accounting principles
  • 5+ years experience in manufacturing and operational accounting
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills
  • Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems
Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
  • Other physical activity may include standing, climbing, stooping, bending, reaching, and frequent use of hands and fingers
