Salt Lake City Corporation is seeking a Water Maintenance Support Worker to operate varied equipment and perform routine and specialized water maintenance tasks. The role requires responding to emergencies, coordinating with dispatch, and ensuring safety devices and barricades are correctly placed.

Qualifications

• Three years paid work experience performing water system maintenance and repair.
• Certification required in Flagging and Traffic Control Device Placement.
• Possession of a valid Utah Commercial Drivers License Class A or ability to obtain within six months.

Responsibilities

• Check signs and barricades and road plates each shift.
• Ensure flashing lights are operating and barricade placement follows the traffic control manual.
• Maintain barricades, batteries, lights, and overall condition; call dispatch for removals if needed.
• Record inspections and actions on the job site and update dispatch daily.
• Assist in repair and replacement of pipes, mains, valves and hydrants under supervision.
• Notify property owners of possible service interruptions.
• Operate light equipment including jackhammers and backhoes as required.
• Complete work orders and submit daily reports to the work order office.
