Job summary

Salt Lake City Corporation seeks a Water System Maintenance Operator II to perform extensive water system maintenance, operate backhoes and other heavy equipment, and support restoration and repairs. The role requires CDL Class A and strong safety and communication skills for coordinating with customers and crews.

Eligible for full city benefits, including health, dental, vacation, and retirement options; includes tuition reimbursement and EAP. Full-time schedule with 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Valid Utah CDL Class A with endorsements; ability to obtain required certificates within six months.
• 3+ years water system maintenance and repair experience; heavy equipment operation.
• Proven ability to respond to emergencies and work rotating shifts.
• Ability to communicate with customers about projects and service interruptions.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment and vehicles for water maintenance and repairs.
• Repair pipes, hydrants, valves, and mains and set up meters per work orders.
• Coordinate safety, permits, and traffic control; supervise crew if needed.
• Assist with backhoe operations for training or emergencies and support restoration.
