Job summary

The role includes inspecting and clearing obstructions, maintaining storm drains and pump stations, and responding to customer inquiries about sewer services. Heavy physical labor and adherence to safety regulations are required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school and two years maintenance experience including sewer maintenance.
• Collection System Maintenance Grade I certification.
• Valid California Class B driver’s license with air brake and tanker endorsements.
• Observe health and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair City sewer systems, lines and equipment to ensure proper sewage flow.
• Inspect, clean, flush, unplug and remove obstructions from sewer lines; clean storm drains and pump stations.
• Operate heavy and light equipment (backhoes, dump trucks, tractors, etc.).
• Respond to customer service calls and public complaints concerning sewer maintenance.
• Maintain records and logs related to maintenance, manholes, collection systems and activities.
