Job summary

City of Merced seeks qualified workers for Sewer/Storm Drains Worker I–III to maintain and repair the city’s sewer collection systems, storm drains, and creeks. Responsibilities include operating hydrocleaners, vacuum trucks, jet rodders, and inspection equipment.

Positions require the appropriate CA driver license, safety training, and certifications. Work occurs in varied outdoor environments with potential after-hours calls and weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• Education: high school diploma or equivalent.
• License: valid CA Class A driver license with air brakes and automatic transmission restrictions.
• Certification: Grade I/II/III Collection System Certifications per CA Water Environment Association.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, operations, and repair on City sewer systems, storm drains, and creeks.
• Operate sewer cleaning equipment and inspection gear.
• Respond to emergencies and maintain safety standards.
