Job summary

The City of Manhattan is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support Public Works by performing maintenance across street, traffic, stormwater, and water systems. You will operate vehicles and equipment, maintain sites, and collaborate with contractors to keep City facilities safe and functional.

Requirements include a high school diploma, a valid driver’s license, and a Class A CDL with airbrakes/tanker endorsement within 90 days (Class B for Traffic).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license.
• CDL Class A with airbrakes and tanker endorsement within 90 days (Class B for Traffic).
• Work Zone certification within 24 months of employment.
• Two years’ relevant experience in construction or related area preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate single/tandem axle trucks, heavy equipment, and power/hand tools.
• Perform routine maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
• Maintain safe worksites and respond to inquiries regarding division work.
• Keep records of work completed and coordinate with contractors.
• Attend meetings and training as required.
• Respond to emergency call-backs and work overtime as needed.
