Job summary

The City of Manhattan, Kansas is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support Public Works by joining a crew and contributing to public health and safety through maintenance tasks. The role includes operating trucks and heavy equipment, performing routine vehicle maintenance, and coordinating with contractors. Starting salary range is $21.60 - $25.93 per hour, DOQ.

Shift is Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM. Requires a high school diploma, valid driver’s license, and a Class A CDL with airbrakes

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver’s license.
Obtain and maintain a Class A commercial driver’s license with airbrakes and tanker endorsement within 90 days of employment (Class B for Traffic division).
Work Zone certification for Traffic division (Obtain within 24 months of employment).
Two years’ relevant experience in construction or related area.

Responsibilities

Operates single/tandem axle trucks, heavy equipment, and various power/hand tools.
Performs routine maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
Secures work areas and maintains safe worksites with warning devices.
Answers and responds to public and staff inquiries regarding the division.
Maintains records regarding work completed.
Works with contractors and developers on repairs and maintenance.
Attends meetings and training as required.
