Job summary

The City of Manhattan, Kansas, is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support Public Works operations. You will operate trucks and heavy equipment, perform routine maintenance, and assist with safety, records, and coordination with contractors.

Required are a high school diploma, a valid driver’s license, and CDL Class A with airbrakes/tanker endorsements within 90 days, plus Work Zone certification within 24 months.

Responsibilities

• Operates single/tandem axle trucks and heavy equipment.
• Performs routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
• Secures work areas and maintains safe worksites with warnings.
• Responds to public and staff inquiries; maintains records of work.
• Works with contractors on repairs and maintenance.
• Attends meetings and training as required.
