Job summary

The City of Manhattan is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join the Public Works team. You will assist in repairs, operate trucks and equipment, and help keep streets, stormwater, and utilities in good condition.

This regular position offers a starting salary range and benefits. Applicants must have a high school diploma, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to obtain a CDL and work zone certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license.
• CDL with airbrakes and tanker endorsement within 90 days of employment (Class B for Traffic division).
• Work Zone certification for Traffic division (Obtain within 24 months of employment).
• Two years’ relevant experience in construction or related area.

Responsibilities

• Operates single/tandem axle trucks, heavy equipment, and various power/hand tools.
• Performs routine maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
• Assists in securing work areas and maintaining safe worksites with warning devices.
• Answers and responds to public and staff inquiries regarding related division.
• Maintains records regarding work completed.
• Works with contractors and developers on repairs and maintenance.
• Attends meetings and training as required.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Commercial driver’s license (CDL) with airbrakes and tanker endorsement

Work Zone certification for Traffic division

Two years’ relevant experience in construction or related area
