Job summary

The City of Manhattan is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support Public Works functions. You will assist with repairs, equipment operation, and site safety while supporting street, traffic, stormwater, and water/wastewater maintenance efforts.

Requirements include a high school diploma, valid driver’s license, CDL with airbrakes/tanker within 90 days, and Work Zone certification within 24 months. Two years of construction experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Obtain and maintain a valid Class A CDL with airbrakes and tanker endorsement within 90 days of employment (Class B for Traffic division).
• Work Zone certification for Traffic division (Obtain within 24 months of employment).
• Two (2) years’ relevant experience in construction or related area.

Responsibilities

• Operates single/tandem axle trucks, heavy equipment, and various power/hand tools.
• Performs routine maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
• Assists in securing work areas and maintaining safe worksites by placement of appropriate warning devices while wearing special protective devices.
• Answers and responds to public and staff inquiries regarding related division.
• Maintains records regarding work completed.
• Works with contractors and developers on repairs and maintenance.
• Attends meetings and training as required.
