Job summary

City of La Vergne is seeking a Laborer II to perform semi-skilled and skilled maintenance on sewer facilities and related systems within the Public Works Department. The role requires operating equipment, assisting with projects, and ensuring safety protocols are followed.

This is a safety-sensitive, non-exempt, hourly position with growth opportunities and comprehensive benefits through the city’s Public Works team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
• One year of experience related to construction, maintenance, or repair.
• Must possess a valid Tennessee driver’s license or obtainable in a reasonable period.

Responsibilities

• Assist planning, scheduling, and implementing maintenance and construction activities.
• Assist in training lower-level employees across departments.
• Inspect and repair streets, drainage, and sanitary sewer systems.
• Respond to complaints and service requests.
• Maintain records of inspections and maintenance activities.
• Perform labor in sewer/water/street projects and operate related equipment.
