Job summary

The City of La Vergne is seeking a Laborer II for the Public Works – Streets department. This hourly, non-exempt position reports to the Street Supervisor and starts at $20.84 per hour. Work involves varied street maintenance, drainage repairs, and operation of equipment in outdoor conditions.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and at least two years of related experience. A Tennessee driver’s license is required or obtainable in a reasonable period.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Two years of construction, maintenance, or related experience preferred.
• Valid Tennessee driver’s license or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Assist planning, scheduling and performing street and drainage maintenance.
• Operate and maintain equipment used in street repairs and drainage work.
• Inspect and repair streets, drainage systems, and related facilities.
• Maintain records of inspections and maintenance activities.
• Work safely and follow safety procedures at all times.
