Job summary

Vermeer Midwest in Aurora, IL is seeking a Service Writer to join our team. This full-time, hourly role supports service and repair processes, verifies warranty coverage, develops estimates, and maintains strong customer relationships.

You will assign jobs to technicians, manage workflow, and ensure accurate invoicing while staying current on equipment knowledge. The position offers a day shift, Monday–Friday, with overtime opportunities.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 4+ years in vehicle or construction equipment service.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Solid technical knowledge of equipment and repair processes.
• Ability to operate forklift and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assign service jobs to technicians based on skill and shop flow.
• Schedule road service calls efficiently and economically.
• Maintain proactive communication with customers on service status.
• Review and finalize repair orders for accuracy in parts, labor, and materials.
• Submit and reconcile warranty claims with vendors.
• Elevate customer complaints to the Service Manager.
• Stay current on equipment knowledge and product updates.
• Participate in meetings and company communications.
• Maintain professional relationships with team and customers.
