Job summary

The Larson Group Peterbilt in Charlotte, NC is seeking an experienced Service Writer to greet customers, discuss problems, and coordinate service with technicians and the warranty department.

You will open and close work orders, track time, schedule appointments, handle phone coverage, and assist the service manager with customer communications. Safety-sensitive position with opportunities for advancement.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• College degree or trade school certificate is preferred but not required.
• Experience in a dealership service shop environment is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Open and close work orders with detailed information.
• Record, adjust and report mechanics' time for work orders and payroll.
• Provide coverage for service department phone lines.
• Resolve customer complaints when possible.
• Schedule customer appointments.
• Supervise and assist technicians with diagnoses and repairs.
• Assist with warranty repair paperwork flow.
• Check in new trucks and complete the required forms.
• Coordinate with parts on special order parts and sublet repairs.
• Instruct the next shift's service writer on any special instructions.

This person will assist in the coordination and communications of the service department as well as perform a variety of tasks with the warranty department.

• Weekends - Thursday through Sunday.

Responsibilities:

• Open and close work orders providing as much information as possible.
• Record, adjust and report mechanics time for work orders and payroll.
• Help cover phone calls for the Service Department.
• Try to resolve customer complaints.
• Schedule appointments.
• Supervise and assist technicians with the diagnosis and repairs of their jobs.
• Assist with warranty repair paper flow.
• Check in new trucks delivered to the shop and complete the proper forms.
• Consult with the parts department on special order parts and sublet repairs.
• Instruct the following shift's service writer on any special instructions and appointments.
• Keep Service Manager informed of all customer complaints and technician problems.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Should possess a High School Diploma.
• A College degree or a certificate from a trade school is preferred, but not required.
• Experience in dealership service shop environment is strongly preferred but not required.
