Description

Summary

Responsible for the ongoing maintenance of contracted and non-contracted generator and power distribution equipment.

Qualification Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Level I Technician requires one to three years of field experience servicing generator systems, including residential applications, capable of preventive maintenance, operational understanding of automatic transfer switches, and performing load banks.
  • All candidates should have a High School diploma or GED, related military experience, or equivalent field experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical instructions, safety manuals, service manuals, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts.
  • Ability to safely perform physical labor outdoors, including lifting and installing replacement parts, generator components, batteries, and other heavy objects, often in extreme temperatures.
  • Must observe all safety standards.

  • Ability to interact tactfully with customers to maintain harmonious relationships.
  • Computer proficiency, especially with ERP systems, email, and Microsoft Office.
  • Maintain a professional appearance on the job.
  • Proven reasoning abilities and sound judgment.

  • Express commitment to PSS, its customers, and employees.
  • Detail-oriented with a process-driven approach.
  • Ability to deliver on-time results supporting business goals.

Supervisory Responsibilities

No supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Functions

  • Travel daily with an independent work structure.
  • Provide 24x7 on-call services as required.
  • Maintain and safeguard company equipment, tools, and instruments.
  • Perform battery installations and replacements.
  • Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance.
  • Interact with customers and coordinate with subcontractors.
  • Maintain company vehicle and complete all required paperwork timely and accurately.
  • Attend training as necessary and own personal tools.

Physical Demands

Tasks require moderate physical work, including lifting up to 75 pounds, climbing, and working in PPE. Must have specific vision abilities and be able to pass pre-employment screening.

Work Environment

85%+ outdoor work in various weather conditions, with travel up to 25%. Exposure to environmental hazards is expected.
