Qualifications

• 2-3 years of experience servicing Emergency Power Supply Systems for Level I.
• 4-6 years of experience for Level II and III, respectively.

The Generator Field Service Technician is responsible for providing on-site troubleshooting, repair, warranty/campaign service, preventative maintenance, and equipment modifications of Generac industrial products. This position requires 100% travel; fleet vehicle provided, with no overnight travel anticipated. Overtime is not promised or required, but during mass storms and outages, management may require additional help for after-hours calls beyond the standing on-call schedule.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Working knowledge of mechanical design, AC and DC circuitry, power generation, wiring schematics, connection diagrams, and control systems.
2. Understanding of components and operation of electrical distribution and transfer switch systems.
3. Excellent troubleshooting skills, ability to make independent decisions, and work with minimal supervision, even in occasionally adverse outdoor weather conditions.
4. Experience in Electronics and Electromechanical Technology.
5. Knowledge of power generation equipment such as light towers.
6. Understanding of Spark Ignited and Compression ignition internal combustion engines.

Qualifications by Technician Level:

Level I:

• Minimum: High School Diploma; 2-3 years servicing and troubleshooting Emergency Power Supply Systems (EPSS).
• Preferred: Associate Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering; 4 years of EPSS experience.

Level II:

• Minimum: High School Diploma; 4 years EPSS experience.
• Preferred: Associate Degree; 6 years EPSS experience.

Level III:

• Minimum: High School Diploma; 6 years EPSS experience.
• Preferred: Associate Degree; 8 years EPSS experience.

Master Technician:

• Minimum: High School Diploma, Generac Master Certification or equivalent; 8 years advanced troubleshooting EPSS.
• Preferred: Associate Degree; 10-15 years in advanced troubleshooting EPSS.
