Description

Reliance Equipment, a municipal equipment house serving the State of Texas, is seeking a Skilled Heavy Equipment Service Technician, Mechanic/Welder. We represent top product lines and are looking for a team member at our new Houston, TX facility. The successful candidate will perform truck and equipment repairs, run diagnostics, and collaborate with team members to complete daily tasks. Strong welding experience is highly desired.

Pay

$25 - $45 per hour, DOE

Job Responsibilities

1. Perform troubleshooting, mechanical repairs, and pre-delivery inspections (PDIs) on various heavy equipment.
2. Complete repairs efficiently, communicating effectively with Service Writers and Parts team to ensure smooth operations.
3. Conduct preventive maintenance and inspections regularly.
4. Communicate with Lead Hand and/or Service Manager regarding job progress and changes.
5. Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including tools and service vans.
6. Repair a wide range of municipal equipment.
7. Diagnose, repair, adjust, and modify heavy-duty components, with on-the-job training provided for specialized equipment.
8. Coordinate and install custom equipment on trucks.
9. Assess and refurbish used truck trade-ins.
10. Perform DOT inspections.
11. Maintain positive interactions with managers, coworkers, parts department, and customers.
12. Repair CCTV equipment and perform diagnostics.

Qualifications for Success

• Class B CDL license or ability to obtain one.
• Hydraulic and electrical knowledge/experience.
• Welding skills are a plus.
• Diesel repair skills are a plus.
• Strong communication skills.
• Self-motivated with initiative.
• Willing to expand knowledge base.
• Attention to detail.
• Owns general tools.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent, with relevant work experience.
• Two years of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical experience preferred.
• One year of welding/fabrication experience preferred.
