Job summary

Securitas Technology in Houston, TX seeks a field technician to manage post-installation issues, perform preventive maintenance, and execute on-site software upgrades. The role requires strong knowledge of access control, CCTV, and fire alarm systems, with licenses such as EL06 or close to obtaining one.

You will diagnose problems, document changes, and install upgrades while coordinating with teams to ensure system availability and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Experience installing and troubleshooting low voltage equipment.
• Strong knowledge of access control, CCTV, burglary and fire alarm systems.
• Fire alarm exposure with Bosch/Silent Knight preferred; other brands a plus.
• ESA or NTS certifications preferred and beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Respond to trouble tickets to ensure uptime and performance.
• Diagnose and resolve application issues individually or as a team.
• Perform preventative maintenance to maximize availability and identify faults.
• Make routine configuration changes (user permissions, app config, etc.).
• Document all system modifications in change control tracking.
• Produce technical documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Perform pre-deployment testing of upgrades and modifications.
• Install software upgrades and major modifications on site.

Our service teams are responsible for providing service on Securitas Technology products at client sites. The position provides client contact for all post-installation problems on systems and equipment, as well as, special project work, when needed.

This role requires an active EL06 license or must be very close to getting their EL06 License.

Job Duties

• Respond to trouble tickets to ensure application uptime and system performance.
• Work individually and as a team to diagnose and resolve application issues.
• Execute preventative maintenance tasks to maximize application availability and identify system faults.
• Perform routine configuration changes (user permissions, application configuration, etc.)
• Document all system modifications through a digital change control tracking system.
• Produce quality technical documentation describing the conceptual and quantitative facets of system deployment, intended for both a technical and non-technical audience.
• Perform pre-deployment end to end testing of all upgrades and major modifications.
• Perform on site installations of software upgrades and major modifications.

Minimum Requirements

• High School diploma required or equivalent.
• Familiarity installing and troubleshooting low voltage equipment.
• Strong working knowledge of commercial access control, CCTV, burglary alarm, intrusion systems, and fire alarms
• Fire alarm experience:
• Bosch, Silent Knight highly preferred.
• Simplex, Notifier, Edwards, Siemens, or other commercial fire systems is a plus.
• ESA Certified Alarm Technician preferred
• NTS Certified Service Technician preferred
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Strong written and verbal communications skills
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent time management skills
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Certifications in enterprise grade CCTV and Access Control systems a plus

Physical Requirements

• Walk, crawl, sit, and climb into possible tight spaces.
• Stand, bend, reach, and stoop at client sites.
• Must be able to hear, talk, see (including the ability to differentiate colors), type, and operate a vehicle with a valid state driver’s license without restrictions.
• Balance at various heights (possibly 8-24 ft) when on or in elevated workplaces.
• Lift items up to or around 50 pounds and carefully maneuver carts and other devices. Overhead lifting is also required.
