Securitas Technology is seeking a skilled field technician to service life-safety and electronic security systems at client sites. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain fire alarms, intrusion, access control, and CCTV equipment, delivering safe, compliant operations.

Responsibilities include completing service reports, configuring system changes, and supporting firmware/hardware upgrades. Excellent diagnostic skills and customer-focused communication are essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience installing and troubleshooting low voltage equipment.
• Strong knowledge of commercial access control, CCTV, burglary alarm, intrusion, and fire alarm systems.
• Fire alarm experience with Bosch or Silent Knight preferred; others a plus.
• ESA Certified Alarm Technician required.
• Iowa Fire Protection System License required.
• NTS Certified Service Technician preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
• Certifications in enterprise-grade CCTV and Access Control are a plus.

Our service teams are responsible for providing service on Securitas Technology products at client sites. The position provides client contact for all post-installation problems on systems and equipment, as well as, special project work, when needed.

Job Duties

• Respond to service calls, inspections, and trouble tickets for fire alarm, intrusion, access control, and video surveillance systems to ensure customer systems remain operational and compliant.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair system faults in the field, working independently or alongside other technicians to restore system functionality.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, testing, and inspections on life safety and electronic security systems in accordance with manufacturer specifications and applicable codes.
• Configure, program, and make routine system changes including user permissions, access control databases, panel programming, and device configuration.
• Document all service activity, repairs, inspections, and system modifications accurately within company service management and reporting platforms.
• Complete detailed service reports and technical documentation that clearly communicate system conditions, deficiencies, corrective actions, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical customers.
• Test system operation following repairs, programming changes, upgrades, or device replacements to verify proper performance and code compliance.
• Install, commission, and support software, firmware, and hardware upgrades for fire alarm, access control, intrusion detection, and video monitoring systems.
• Assist with system expansions, device additions, major modifications, and equipment replacements while maintaining adherence to safety standards, company procedures, and applicable fire and security regulations.
• Provide professional customer support on-site by explaining system operation, identifying potential issues, and recommending corrective actions or improvements.

Minimum Requirements

• High School diploma required or equivalent.
• Familiarity installing and troubleshooting low voltage equipment.
• Strong working knowledge of commercial access control, CCTV, burglary alarm, intrusion systems, and fire alarms.
• Fire alarm experience: Bosch, Silent Knight highly preferred. Simplex, Notifier, Edwards, Siemens, or other commercial fire systems is a plus.
• ESA Certified Alarm Technician Required.
• Iowa Fire Protection System License through the Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing (DIAL) Required.
• NTS Certified Service Technician preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills.
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
• Certifications in enterprise grade CCTV and Access Control systems a plus.
