Job summary

Securitas Technology, a world-leading provider of integrated security solutions, is seeking a skilled Service Technician to install, service, and upgrade fire alarm, access control, intrusion, and video systems. You will respond to client calls, diagnose faults, and perform preventive maintenance, ensuring systems remain compliant and operable.

Ideal candidates hold an ESA Alarm Technician certificate and a relevant state license, with strong communication, problem-solving, and time-management

Qualifications

• High School diploma required; ESA Alarm Technician certification is required
• Experience with installing/troubleshooting low voltage equipment is expected
• Strong knowledge of access control, CCTV, burglary alarms, intrusion and fire alarm systems
• ESA Certified Alarm Technician and state license are required or near completion
• NTS certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Respond to service calls, inspections, and trouble tickets for fire alarm, intrusion, access control, and video surveillance systems
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair system faults in the field, independently or with teammates
• Perform preventive maintenance, testing, and inspections on life safety systems per specs and codes
• Configure, program, and modify system settings including user permissions and databases
• Document all service activity and create detailed reports for customers and internal teams
• Test operations after repairs or upgrades to ensure code compliance
• Install, commission, and support software, firmware, and hardware upgrades
• Assist with system expansions and major modifications as needed
• Provide professional on-site customer support and clear recommendations

Our service teams are responsible for providing service on Securitas Technology products at client sites. The position provides client contact for all post-installation problems on systems and equipment, as well as, special project work, when needed.

This role req uires an EL06 license or must be very close to getting their EL06 License.

Job Duties

• Respond to service calls, inspections, and trouble tickets for fire alarm, intrusion, access control, and video surveillance systems to ensure customer systems remain operational and compliant.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair system faults in the field, working independently or alongside other technicians to restore system functionality.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, testing, and inspections on life safety and electronic security systems in accordance with manufacturer specifications and applicable codes.
• Configure, program, and make routine system changes including user permissions, access control databases, panel programming, and device configuration.
• Document all service activity, repairs, inspections, and system modifications accurately within company service management and reporting platforms.
• Complete detailed service reports and technical documentation that clearly communicate system conditions, deficiencies, corrective actions, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical customers.
• Test system operation following repairs, programming changes, upgrades, or device replacements to verify proper performance and code compliance.
• Install, commission, and support software, firmware, and hardware upgrades for fire alarm, access control, intrusion detection, and video monitoring systems.
• Assist with system expansions, device additions, major modifications, and equipment replacements while maintaining adherence to safety standards, company procedures, and applicable fire and security regulations.
• Provide professional customer support on-site by explaining system operation, identifying potential issues, and recommending corrective actions or improvements.

Minimum Requirements

• High School diploma required or equivalent.
• Familiarity installing and troubleshooting low voltage equipment.
• Strong working knowledge of commercial access control, CCTV, burglary alarm, intrusion systems, and fire alarms
• Fire alarm experience:
  • Bosch, Silent Knight highly preferred.
  • Simplex, Notifier, Edwards, Siemens, or other commercial fire systems is a plus.
• ESA Certified Alarm Technician Required
• Iowa Fire Protection System License through the Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing (DIAL) Required
• NTS Certified Service Technician preferred
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Strong written and verbal communications skills
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent time management skills
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Certifications in enterprise grade CCTV and Access Control systems a plus
